Name: Dr. Gaius Baltar
Canon: Battlestar Galactica (TV show)
Point of Entry: Season 4, during the episode Blood on the Scales
Appearance: Relatively short (5'8") and fit. Dark brown hair, often worn long. Prefers not to have facial hair, but occasionally rocks a beard. Very stylishly dressed and attractive.
Character History:
After leaving home at eighteen, Gaius Baltar spent his entire adult life running from his childhood as a farmer’s son on Aerelon, to the point of disguising his normal, lower-class accent with a sophisticated one more suited for his adopted home of Caprica. He ended up moving his father, Julius, to the new planet, but Julius was never happy with his new home, and complained often.
Gaius became widely known on Caprica as a great computer scientist and defense researcher with strong views with regards to artificial intelligence. While working in this particular job, he struck up a sexual relationship with a tall, gorgeous blonde who he believed to work in the defense industry. They helped one another out, Gaius giving the woman access to government mainframes, and the woman helping him design a military-used defense mainframe.
As a result of this cooperation between the two of them, Gaius found himself partially responsible for an attack that killed most of the human race. It turned out his girlfriend was a Cylon, part of a breed of robots originally created by the humans as workers who had eventually rebelled and fought in a giant war against the human race. Gaius felt disbelief at this claim at first, then terror at being persecuted for his actions, but since there was shortly to be no one left to persecute him, this became of less concern. As the whole world outside exploded, Six shielded Gaius with her body, knowing full well that as soon as that particular body of hers was destroyed, her consciousness would be transferred to an identical one.
Gaius found himself, through a turn of events, onboard the military ship known as the Battlestar Galactica, and was designated as the ship’s scientist. He began to find himself plagued with visions of the woman who’d saved his life and wondered if she’d implanted a chip in his brain or whether he was going insane. Once his theory about the chip implant was proven untrue, however, the insanity theory was as well: Six was giving him essential information that his brain wouldn’t know, even subconsciously. She claimed simply to be an angel watching over him.
The information Head Six supplied him with, while useful, also stood the chance of incriminating Gaius as an ally of the Cylons, and so his self-protection instincts quickly taught him to cover his tracks, leading him to make a lot of terrible decisions, many of which ended in the death of innocents. In addition to science, Gaius Baltar found himself working as the vice president to President Laura Roslin, which led to his eventually taking the presidency. After a trial for the crimes he committed as president, Gaius went on to find himself surrounded by mostly-female followers of his, various things leading him to become a religious leader, preaching about monotheism rather than the polytheism that generally reigned supreme in the Twelve Colonies.

Disclaimer:
I neither own the character of Gaius Baltar (he is the property of Ronald D. Moore &c.), nor do I have any claim on the actor James Callis (although I wouldn't mind if I did.) This particular version of Dr. Baltar exists for the purpose of a roleplaying game, and thus fun times!
